The proposal for the new library of business district Songdo consists of a squared volume, with the program organized around a circular courtyard, offering light and view to the interior spaces. The spatial configuration of the ground floor is rotated 45° in relation to the squared outline, generating spaces defined but open spaces for the children´s library and the classrooms. The program on the first floor is organized around the perimeter of the building following the grid. The space in between the rooms and the courtyard remains as an informal seating area. The absolute expression of the interior spaces is given by its main structural material CLT, visible in every space of the library. A vast garden with a large tribune crowns the building, and makes the rooftop accessible for staff and visitors.
